YOGA FOR THERAPY
Yoga according to the possibilities, interests and well-being of each person
FOR HEALTH & HEALING
Yoga Therapy, refers to the adaptation and application of yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing health challenges.
It can be used:
- As a support to alleviate or prevent many physical, chronic, psychological or emotional conditions.
- To compliment both conventional and alternative medicine.
Yoga therapy is taught by yoga teachers with additional training and experience in the therapeutic adaptation and application of yoga.
The Yoga Therapist may include one or more of a range of techniques to help individuals facing health challenges, such as posture work, breathing techniques, relaxation, working with sound, reflection, and/or meditation. A number of sessions are likely to be needed to confirm safe and appropriate practice.

I contacted Zoë to start classes when I knew absolutely nothing about yoga. I was looking for some peace of mind in my life. I started with a few individual sessions with Zoë and realised that yoga was indeed offering what I was looking for. It’s far more than ‘stretching’ exercises; the movements combined with controlled breathing are really a preparation for quieting the mind. In quieting the mind I found the break I needed from constant overthinking and anxiety. I still have individual sessions now and again and with Zoë’s help have developed a personal daily practice of yoga. I also go to Zoë’s Monday evening sessions. Monday evenings are like plugging in to a weekly download of light, energy, calm and gentleness.Paula
My weekly yoga class is my lifeboat. I feel it when I miss one! I had tried some yoga before but only since I started working with Zoë five years ago has it become so vital as a practice for maintaining my everyday balance. As the mother of two small children with a full-time job I have very little time to practice but even with one session a week I feel enormous beneficial effects in body and mind. I have learned from Zoë and Gary not to see yoga as an additional thing ‘to do’ but as a way of being in daily life that brings peace, contentment and joy in the midst of everyday agitation.Maria
When I first found Gary’s class several years ago, I felt that it was the class I had been searching for but never found and I have stayed with him ever since. This is not just an exercise class. Gary brings to the class a spiritual quality that I love and he is a wealth of information about yoga itself. In the past I have found other yoga classes a bit slow and not very demanding, but in Gary’s class I am physically challenged yet mentally calmed. He and Zoë offer workshops sometimes, they are well worth going to. In short I would recommend Gary and Zoë’s classes to anyone, you will be welcomed and looked after.Lesley
Yoga has been a phenomenal benefit for me. For about 7 years I had been unable to run far or frequently, due to back pain caused by a ligament problem. Even when I didn’t run I felt back pain. After several weeks of attending yoga classes my back pain gradually reduced. Over several months I resumed running and have ran several half marathons in the last few years. Yoga has also been helpful for relaxing and reducing stress. I have attended classes with Zoë and with Gary. Both are highly professional, knowledgeable and friendly tutors. I am grateful for their commitment to yoga and their talent to teach to people, like me, who had little prior experience of yoga.Hannah
