Yoga Therapy, refers to the adaptation and application of yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing health challenges.
It can be used:
- As a support to alleviate or prevent many physical, chronic, psychological or emotional conditions.
- To compliment both conventional and alternative medicine.
Yoga therapy is taught by yoga teachers with additional training and experience in the therapeutic adaptation and application of yoga.
The Yoga Therapist may include one or more of a range of techniques to help individuals facing health challenges, such as posture work, breathing techniques, relaxation, working with sound, reflection, and/or meditation. A number of sessions are likely to be needed to confirm safe and appropriate practice.
Both Zoë and Gary are certified and highly skilled yoga therapists. We are registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
WE ARE EQUIPPED TO WORK WITH:
- Injuries and trauma, back pain, knee injuries, whiplash
- Health conditions like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, crohns disease, chronic fatigue syndrome
- Disorders such as asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Stress, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, high blood pressure
- Menopausal symptoms
- Pregnancy, post-natal care
I have been practicing yoga under Gary’s guidance for around 5 years and I cannot speak more highly of my experience. Prior to attending Gary’s class I naively believed that yoga was for the super flexible whose main aim was to master complex postures. However, thanks to Gary’s teaching my understanding of both yoga practice and theory has greatly improved, as has my overall wellbeing. The emphasis is on the importance of the breath which I have found enlightening and have applied to everyday life. As a result of attending Gary’s classes, I have seen great improvements in myself both physically and mentally. I have studied with Zoë and Gary for the last 5 years and throughout that time I have found I have developed a personal yoga practice that has helped me in so many ways. Having now been practicing yoga for almost a year with Gary I would like to say how much it has made a difference to the quality of my mobility and life.
