FOR HEALTH & HEALING
Yoga Therapy, refers to the adaptation and application of yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing health challenges.
It can be used:
- As a support to alleviate or prevent many physical, chronic, psychological or emotional conditions.
- To compliment both conventional and alternative medicine.
Yoga therapy is taught by yoga teachers with additional training and experience in the therapeutic adaptation and application of yoga.
The Yoga Therapist may include one or more of a range of techniques to help individuals facing health challenges, such as posture work, breathing techniques, relaxation, working with sound, reflection, and/or meditation. Yoga has been a phenomenal benefit for me. For about 7 years I had been unable to run far or frequently, due to back pain caused by a ligament problem. Even when I didn’t run I felt back pain. After several weeks of attending yoga classes my back pain gradually reduced. Over several months I resumed running and have ran several half marathons in the last few years. Yoga has also been helpful for relaxing and reducing stress. I have attended classes with Zoë and with Gary. Both are highly professional, knowledgeable and friendly tutors. I am grateful for their commitment to yoga and their talent to teach to people, like me, who had little prior experience of yoga.Hannah
Gary is a wonderful teacher. He is very professional, calm and caring. I am 76 and have been attending Gary’s yoga classes for a number of years. The class is very friendly and consists of all ages and everyone feels confident knowing that they are encouraged to work within their capabilities, with slight variations when necessary.Doreen
Between them they have a wealth of knowledge and offer authentic teachings whilst also offering new ways to think about the way we practice. They are welcoming, fun and make yoga accessible. I highly recommend working with them both as individual teachers and in workshop or group classes.Helen
Having now been practicing yoga for almost a year with Gary I would like to say how much it has made a difference to the quality of my mobility and life. Gary has allowed me to develop my practice at my own pace. I have never felt under pressure to take more lessons then what were feasible to me and never felt obligated to continue the practice if it didn’t benefit me. I have particularly enjoyed the person centred approach making me feel he’s only teaching me and no one else. He’s always been available to discuss any problems with my practice and given immediate feedback.Tanvir
