FOR HEALTH & HEALING

Yoga Therapy, refers to the adaptation and application of yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing health challenges. It can be used as a support to alleviate or prevent many physical, chronic, psychological or emotional conditions. Yoga Therapy can compliment both conventional and alternative medicine. Yoga therapy is taught by yoga teachers with additional training and experience in the therapeutic adaptation and application of yoga. 

During the initial session a medical history will be taken by the yoga therapist. The body, posture, simple movements and the breath will be observed and issues and concerns discussed. Working with yoga therapeutically is about the whole person. The yoga therapist will then assess how yoga therapy may help before planning and teaching a practice tailored to the needs of that individual. Practices may include one or more of a range of techniques such as posture work, breathing, relaxation, working with sound, reflection, and/or meditation. A number of sessions are likely to be needed to confirm safe and appropriate practice.

  • Health conditions like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, crohns disease, chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Disorders such as asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Pregnancy, post-natal care

FOR EXPLORATION & DEVELOPMENT

One to one sessions can be used to deepen and develop your understanding of yoga. This may involve postures and permutations of postures,  breath work, or learning to chant or study relevant yoga texts. The techniques and tools of yoga are endless and you can develop and progress at your own pace.

This was how yoga was traditionally taught.  If you want to explore and develop your relationship with yoga, with a personally designed practice to meet your needs and lifestyle, then this approach is for you.

We mentor and offer supervision for trainee teachers. Our systematic training equips us to facilitate your own exploration of yoga.

THE PROCESS

Free 30 minute consultation

We offer a free 30 minute consultation where we will meet with you, assess your needs and talk over your interests.  If you wish we can arrange the initial session.

Fee - Free of charge

Initial Session

The first session will be 1 hour 30 minutes and thereafter, sessions are for 1 hour. During this session we shall look at your health and lifestyle in more depth, then a carefully considered practice will be developed and designed for you. You will then be fully supported as you progress and establish a practice.

Fee - £60

Further Sessions

During the initial session we will make a plan of sessions to suit you.  Some people only require a couple of sessions to address a specific need and others come on a monthly on-going basis.  These sessions are for 1 hour.

Fee - £40 per hour

10% discount on 5hr block booking - £180

Yoga Therapists

We are certified and highly skilled yoga therapists. We are registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

Yoga Teachers

We are certified and highly skilled yoga teachers. We are accredited to teach yoga by the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and have completed the Professional Practitioner Yoga Teaching & Therapeutic Healthcare Training Programme with Centre for Yoga Studies (cYs).
