Yoga has been around me since childhood, my Granny and my Mum practiced, so from a young age I was aware of the physical practices. In my early twenties not really knowing why, I started to attend a regular class. Immediately I loved it's complexity and simplicity. In 2002 I trained in the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta tradition. I practiced and taught this approach for some years.
In 2005 I started to study in the Viniyoga approach with Janet Evans and Paul Harvey. My practice and teaching is now firmly rooted in this approach. Along the way I have been privileged to study and practice with many teachers including, on workshops and retreats, TKV Desikachar and Menaka Desikachar, Srivatsa Ramaswami and A.G. Mohan and Indra Mohan all students of T Krishnamacharya.
I have taken practitioners from beginners level to becoming teachers themselves. I offer supervision to trainee teachers.
Yoga for me is an art, a support, a relationship, a way of living.
From an early age I had an interest in meditation and spiritual practices but it wasn’t until I came to Yoga, out of curiosity in 2005, that I actually found something that could sustain this curiosity and interest. I started practicing Astanga Vinyāsa Yoga and from there I explored the other teachings and systems of T. Krishnamacharya’s Yoga through his student Srivatsra Ramaswami and Paul Harvey a direct student of TKV Desikachar.
My interest is with the physical and the philosophical aspects of yoga. I enjoy exploring the ideas around our existence, our purpose and our relationship with nature. I am a keen gardener and vegetable grower, I find this a wonderful activity that compliments and enhances my philosophical curiosity and understanding.
Our training and main inspiration is rooted in the tradition of T Krishnamacarya and TKV Desikachar as taught to us by Paul Harvey. We are certified and highly skilled yoga teachers, accredited to teach yoga by the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and have completed the Professional Practitioner Yoga Teaching & Therapeutic Healthcare Training Programme with Centre for Yoga Studies (cYs).
Through lectures, workshops and retreats we have learnt about yoga with Srivatsa Ramaswami, AG & Indra Mohan all direct students of T Krishnamacarya.
Honouring the teachings of old, whilst creating and cultivating new ideas moment to moment. Inspired by nature, by the globe, and the cosmos we share the spirit of yoga in practical, accessible ways - through talking, listening, observation, movement and stillness, breath and sound work. We preserve a cherished space for individuals to explore their unique self and realise your true potential.
Our approach is person centred. This requires an understanding of a person's present condition, their needs, goals, past experiences and lifestyle. These aspects will vary with each individual. We draw from a varied tool box to meet your needs and interests. We value wisdom and work always with integrity and compassion.
